NYC AppleLicious Lip Balm Review - Apple Blueberry Pie

Wednesday, 14 August 2013

Hi guys!
A few weeks ago, the pound shops had been stocking up on some quality products. I don't always like to buy things from the discount/pound shops, because I feel like I am being very cheap/tight to not buy anything from actual shops, but if it is quality products and I am making a saving, I am more than happy to.
I found a duo set in there, of 2 NYC Products. One was a waterproof liner pencil, and the other was this, AppleLicious Glossy Lip Balm in the shade Apple Blueberry Pie. I was then later informed that this is a shade not available in the UK (I think), which was even better!

You may realise, I have made a collage for this product. You may have also noticed that Megan made a collage for her recent blog post! I promise I am not copying, there is literally no explanation other than the fact that I think we are telepathic.

I love the fact that this has a little apple on it, in a different colour, but when you apply it, it slightly fades but not completely. The packaging is cute too, pink with silver shimmer in it, and silver writing. They even replaced the 'o' with an apple!

I put the pictures on again, in full just so you could see a little closer. I am very proud of how these pictures turned out actually! If you think I have used too many pictures, let me know, or maybe you prefer it this way?

The product itself is quite sheer and balmy, but you can get a nice colour payoff with this, it is very versatile. I love the colour, a slightly shimmery, blue-pink/almost purple-ish colour, and I have been wearing this so much recently! It is very moisturising and nourishing on the lips too, despite having some shimmer, as sometimes that can leave a gritty feeling on the lips. I seriously adore the smell of this too, it is slightly 'artificially', apple smelling, but you can't help but love it, artificial or not.

Have you tried any of these balms from NYC? I really want to get my hands on some more, and they are super affordable too, only £2.49 a pop, which is great!
Thanks for reading guys,

MUA Power Pouts | Review

Sunday, 4 August 2013

Hi guys!
So, whilst delving through my makeup, I rediscovered the MUA Power Pouts (I own 2) and I decided that I should do a review on them as I had some pictures floating around. I will always be loyal to the beloved Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains, because the quality of them is like no other and they are more thick and 'stain' like. But these are a nice cheaper alternative if you are just getting into makeup, or are on a budget. These are £3 a pop, and there are about 5 different colours, from red, to nude.

I have the colours Justify, which is a sheer red/orange-coral, and this one was a gamble for me because oranges don't suit me, but the colour inside doesn't give you a spaghetti mouth like the packaging suggests, so it's all good.... haha! I also have Broken Hearted which is a bright pink, with a slight (very small) almost burgundy tone to it. It isn't really close the packaging colour but it follows that idea. You can see in the picture below, that you can actually build up a nice colour with these.

Compared to the Revlon Just Bitten Kissables, these are a lot more balm like, opposed to stain like, and so they have a much more glossy look on the lips,  and sometimes I prefer this, but I am one to prefer the Revlon ones at most times. I find that the colour lasts longer and does actually stain the lips when I wear the Revlon ones, but I do still love the MUA ones for when I want something a little lighter.
I think after writing this post, I think I need to go and buy some more of the Revlon ones! They are 2 for £10 at the moment, for lips, nails and mascara, maybe a balm stain and a lip butter? I could buy 2 of each if I was daring enough, but I feel bad spending once I have got it home!

Revlon PhotoReady Cream Blush in Coral Reef

Friday, 2 August 2013

Hi guys!
First of all, this is my 100th Post! Yaaay!
So, I never really used to be a fan of cream blush, as sometimes the texture doesn't work on my skin, but throughout the time I have been obsessed with makeup and blogging, I have found a few gems.
This blush from Revlon was on my wishlist for a long time after Alix from ICovetThee mentioned it in a video of hers. I got the one in Coral Reef about 2 months ago, and I think it is time for a review.

I like the packaging, as it is small and compact, but still holds a lot of product. I also like that you can see the product through clear packaging, as if you have the other 2 shades (which I hope to get soon!), you can know what's what.

I love the colour, as it is a vibrant red coral in the pan, but then on the cheek, it becomes a muted version of that, and it is just gorgeous! I love the texture too, as it isn't too creamy, it has a slightly satin feel to it, and doesn't make me look too glowy on the face. This is probably the best cream blush I have tried, and I think a purchase of a different colour is in order! I find them so easy to sweep on a blend, with just my fingertips! I would recommend this for anyone on the go, well, to be honest, it is just a makeup bag essesntial!
Since trying this cream blush, I am really in the mood to buy some more! I am thinking that the Bourjois ones look nice, as my local Superdrug refilled the testers today so they weren't all dried out and they look lovely! Let me know what you think!

SheerCover Lip Trio

Tuesday, 30 July 2013

Hi guys!
So, I don't know about you, but I am not a lipgloss person. I find that they gloss up my lips for about 20 minutes and then the magic is gone, and they don't exactly add much colour either. But this lip trio from SheerCover is great, and the glosses have incredible pigmentation too!
Sheercover is a brand that isn't really known to be high end, but is kind of pricey, and is apparently used by the makeup artists for either Britains Got Talent or the X Factor, I can't remember what I said on the leaflet.

L-R: Rich Berry, Sweet Peach, Rose

The lip glosses are sticky, but nothing unbearable on the lips. The pigmentation is incredible, and I like the shimmery deep bluey-red the best. I will probably never wear the Sweet Peach one, although I am definitely keeping it for it one day I want to do some sort of specific look with a random gold lip?! Aha! I like the one in Rose as well, as it isn't shimmery, and is a very muted nude-orange. Not very rose, but I like it a lot.
I love the packaging of these, as it is very simple and they are very thin tubes, and so they don't take up a lot of room at all! These are nice for handbag size, but if you wanted to apply these again throughout the day, make sure that you have a mirror, because something this pigmented needs to be applied accurately!

As you can see, the pigmentation is incredible. I feel like like Rich Berry could be a great Christmas or New Years, and I know that is very far ahead, but oh well!  (It is a little darker)
One final thing I just discovered about these glosses is that...They contain Mineral Oil. I'm not sure how I feel about this, as I have heard that it can cause an addiction to the product, but I think that might be for balms, and to be honest I don't wear these too much anyway.
So, that is all for todays post, I hope you enjoyed reading, and I will see you next time!

SheerCover Smokey Eyes Palette

Saturday, 6 July 2013

Hi guys!
I hardly ever wear a smokey eye. Or anything that is not neutral to be honest.
When this palette was sent to me, I decided that I would start sporting the smoked lid, but that never really happened. I still have tried it though, so that I could review it for you.
You get 6 colours in this palette, all named on the back.

From left to right, you have: White Ice, Silver Polish, Soft Coal, Royal Blue, Deep Violet and Starry Night.

I really do like the packaging. It is a very slim, shiny, black (not always my favourite!), palette, which would be really easy to carry around in a makeup bag if you enjoy the smokey look on a daily basis.
I like the colours too, you have your classic whites, and greys, but then you also get an almost colbalt blue, an aubergine/purple and then a black with a shot of silver glitter through it.

As you can see, these are very well pigmented. The shimmer/glitter from Starry Night doesn't actually show up as much as I would have liked, but sometimes that glitter could be too much anyways. I think the smokey eye looks better when it's matte, but maybe only shimmer on the base. I guess these shadows could be a *little* chalky, but they last a long time this way, and they are still easy to blend.

Overall, this is a good palette, but not one I will wear often. I would really recommend this to anyone that is more adventurous with shadows, but not for anyone who likes neutrals.
This palette retails for £20.95 from www.sheercover.co.uk

Thanks for reading guys, and thanks for 90 followers! :)

Rimmel GlamEyes HD Quad in Heart of Gold

Thursday, 27 June 2013

Hi guys!
I love neutrals, and I always tend to play it safe with my eye makeup. You won't really ever see me sporting a smokey eye, or anything blue, green or purple. Or anything coloured as a matter of fact. I'm all a bit 'ooh, UD Bootycall over the lid' 'ooh, dark taupe crease', and that's the way it goes a lot of the time. I should definitely experiment a lot more.
When I found this quad in a pound shop I jumped for joy. I had seen the one that look exactly like a Union Jack with the pink and blue, and had always hoped there would be a neutral one out there somewhere.

So in this quad, you are greeted with a dark pinkish nude shimmer, an extremely yellow-gold shimmer, a coppery golden shimmer, and a dark, almost red toned brown shimmer. They are all really lovely colours, and I think that this palette/quad could become a staple in my collection very easily.
I love Rimmel eyeshadows. They are buttery soft, and have a great colour pay-off. I feel as if they are very long lasting as well, because there's something about the texture that just seems to make them stick - even without primer sometimes.
These swatches are literally just me wiping the tip of my finger on the pan once, so this can be built up a LOT more for intense pigmentation.
I have my eye on another one of these now, called Green Park. It consists of some really lovely muted greeny neutral colours, so I am hoping that that one may pop up in the pound shops too! To be honest, no matter what the colours were, if it was a pound, I would be happy to buy it! You never know what colours you might need if you want to do a tutorial or something! :)

MUA Undress Me Too Palette

Sunday, 23 June 2013

Hi guys!

Everyone loves a good bargain, and when that bargain is a dupe for a high end product, it's even better.

We all get very excited about the MUA Undressed Palette, which is an exact UD Naked Palette dupe, but I never got round to buying it. Even weirder, I got the Undress Me Too, which is a dupe for the Naken 2, which I already own. I guess I just wanted a backup, as I wasn't prepared to buy another £36 palette.
It is safe to say that it is pretty much an  exact dupe, as I have made a comparison and I may be posting that in the future. I would say that this one has near enough the same lasting time, if anything a tiny bit less time if you don't wear a primer.

Here you can see all the amazing colours in the palette. There are 3 mattes and the rest are shimmers, but I really would like to buy some more matte shadows as I am growing to love them more and more. This palette is £4, which is about 30p an eyeshadow - such a great deal!

The first 6 colours are (top 3): Naked, Devotion, Shy, (bottom 3): Tranquil, Exposed, Reveal.

Then once again: (Top 3): Fiery, Lavish, Creamy. (Bottom 3): Wink, Obsessed, Corrupt.
So they are all the colours, and as you can see they are really familiar to the UD ones.
Now, I seem to have lost the swatches of this palette, but you shall see them when I do the comparison post, so I am very sorry about that guys, I will do better next time.
Thanks for reading, and don't forget to follow, if possible via Bloglovin' because GFC is packing its bags in about a weeks time, and I really do not want any of my hard earned followers to loose out :(

GOSH Giant Sun Powder

Saturday, 15 June 2013

Hi guys!
Bronzers are my addiction, but though I look at them in the shops every time I go, I only own about 3 bronzers. This product is definitely not a contour colour, as it is packed with shimmer and when on the skin it almost has a metallic sheen to it. Now, I will just say it now. I have no idea when I will use this. It is gold. I think this would look absolutely beautiful on darker skin as a golden blush/highlight, but on my skin, it looks bad.

It's pretty huge. As you can see in the above picture. Which makes me consider even more if I will ever hit pan on this. Or if I will ever use it anyway, because I don't really have any idea how to?

I do like the packaging. Matte black with glossy logos are the ticket for me. So basically, I don't like the product itself, but I like what the product comes in.

Here is it swatched, and blended out, and it is still very, very gold. An eyeshadow would be a nice in this colour actually... But I suppose if you had a tan and a very not-dense brush, you could manage some sort of golden glowiness, but it just doesn't work for me. This is in the shade 001, but I cannot seem to find any other shades anywhere online.

If you are interested in this, or think that it could work for you, you can buy this HERE for £13.99, but you get double the amount of a normal bronzer.

GOSH Long Lasting Lip Marker

Wednesday, 29 May 2013

Hi Guys!
As you know, GOSH is a brand I am very much in love with, but do not actually buy a lot of in store. When I was sent some lip products to review (all opinions are honest), I got very very excited. I wasn't too excited about this Lip Marker though, as I had heard so much about how drying lip stains were etc. etc. etc.
This one, is drying. Though, there is no issue with it once you have lip balm under and over it. It smells really nice, which is unusual for a stain, and it also tastes as good as it's scent (sweet, but a little fruity?).

Sorry about the such dull looking pictures, I haven't added any contrast to them, as I didn't have time.

So, the one this I do not like about this product is that it is patchy, especially when it is first applied. I can work with it, but as shown on the lip swatch, it is pretty difficult to get it perfectly even. For me, red isn't a colour I wear regularly, as with any bright colour, but I am try to branch out more this season.

As you can see, it is a little patchy, and does bleed in some areas. But the colour is very pretty. It is a vibrant cherry red, and I do really like it with a red GOSH lip gloss over the top, and it definitely makes the product less drying. I wouldn't recommend this product if you do always have dry lips, and I will not be wearing this in winter, because lip stains plus chapped lips probably will not be good.
But in the summer, this will me AMAZING for some sweat proof makeup, as I swatched this on my hand, and after 2 showers, a bath and many many thorough hand washes, it finally faded!

So, have you tried this?
What do you think about lip stains?

Thanks for reading, bye!

GOSH Volume Lip Shine Glosses Review

Monday, 6 May 2013

Hi guys!
As you know, GOSH is a brand which I am pretty obsessed with, the nail polishes, and the makeup! The quality of their products is outstanding!
These lip glosses are really nice, and they give a nice sheer amount of colour to your lips, so I like to wear these for school, as they are very wearable, and don't look like too much.
The shades I won are 04, and 07, I don't know the colours (sorry!), but there is a sheer red, and then a sheer browny colour, which sounds horrible, but looks great.

I don't know if I am right on the scent here, but I am pretty sure they smell like the Fruit Salad flavoured Chewits sweets! YUM!

Here you can see that the colours are pretty sheer, maybe a little more pigmentation would be better, but otherwise I really like these products! I think they have quite a good lasting power too!

This picture was just to show the applicator, which is a doe-foot, making it very easy and quick to apply, so I like to take these on the go with me!

I cannot find an exact link to this product, but these are similar: http://www.superdrug.com/lightn-shine-lip-glaze-light-purple/invt/249662&bklist
Have you tried these? Let me know in the comments!

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

Thursday, 2 May 2013

Hi everyone!
Why haven't I blogged about this product sooner. Why. Why. WHY. It's incredible, and it really lives up the the hype it gets on the internet. 12 shades, of beautiful, highly pigmented, neutral (high end) eyeshadows, in one place, all in lovely packaging for £36. For a high end palette, that totals up to be £3 per eyeshadow. Better than MAC, and quite a few drugstore brands too!
So, I am just going to show you some images of the palette, and then I will have swatches of each colour too.

Super Sleek Packaging

Ooh, eye shadows!
These are all such wearable shades, which is why I like it so much. I have become attached to neutral shadows, and I find that I can get many looks out of this one palette.

L-R (top and bottom pics): Foxy, Half Baked, Bootycall. Chopper, Tease, Snakebite

On these swatches, I literally swiped my finger once or twice over the pan, and this shows how good the pigmentation is.

L-R (top and bottom pictures) - Suspect, Pistol, Verve, YDK, Busted, Blackout.

My favourite shades are YDK, Bootycall, and Suspect, and I also love Tease for the crease, and it also is pretty good in my eyebrows!

What are your favourite shades if you have this or the Naked 1, I would love to know!
Thanks for reading, don't forget to follow and comment!
