Maybelline The Falsies Review (Before+After) and EOTD

Thursday, 14 March 2013

Hi everyone!
This mascara was purchased a while ago and I never reviewed it, so I thought now I would do it as I liked my eye makeup so I thought it would be a perfect opportunity! To see the EOTD, scroll down!
I like waterproof mascaras, so that is what this one is. It has a spoon wand with actual bristles, which normally I don't like, but I find this one curls and grips the lashes perfectly.
Mascara Product Shot. £8.99 Boots and Superdrug
Before the mascara:

Eye with no mascara.
After the mascara:
After the mascara. The top lashes actually look more lengthened in real life.

So the EOTD:
EOTD - products listed below. BROWS - Urban Decay Naked 2 (Tease)
So I started by using Bootycall from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette as a highlight colour. I then used the light colour from the NYC Duo in Eastside Brownstone, which I love, and sweeped that all over the lid. I took the darker colour on the outer third of the lid.
Over that I then applied some of the Rimmel GlamEyes Shadow in Backstage. Then In put a small amount of Tease from the Naked 2 into the crease, and then over that to deepen it slightly I went in with ELF Pebble, and then finally some of Blackout from the Naked 2 (just the smallest amount) and that just made the look a little more smokey.

I hope you have enjoyed this first EOTD of mine. Let me know your holy grail eyeshadow products!

ThisWorks- Sleep Balm Review

Wednesday, 13 March 2013

Hello everyone!
I found this sleep balm in TkMaxx for £3.75 as old Christmas stock, and I could't say no. I saw it on an I Covet Thee video, and I was prepared to pay £10, but I found this bargain instead! I also found a lovely lavender pillow mist from a french brand for around the same price. I am really into sleep products at the moment!
So this sleep balm is designed to help you drift off to sleep by rubbing a small amount on your pulse points before you go to sleep.

Product Shot

This is basically an average thickness lavender scented balm. Sometimes it's not so thick as I have it by my bedside table lamp, and the light warms it up a bit. I suppose it does make for easier application, not that when it isn't melted it's hard to apply, it's great either way!
I'm not sure how this actually helps my sleeping, as I do get to sleep easier when I use it, I *think*..? Lavender is a well know calming scent though..So you never know!

Have you found any gems in TkMaxx recently? I am hoping to pop in there tomorrow and find a few things..Let me know if you would like to see a mini haul?

My Current Favourite Statement Jewellery Items

Tuesday, 12 March 2013

Hi everyone! Another fashion post for you today!
This will be showing you a few jewellery pieces I have been loving recently.
I am really into statement necklaces, large rings, and spikes and triangles at the moment, as you will probably see in the pictures!
Spike Bracelet - From a pack of 4 in Primark £2
This bracelet has been on my wrist non-stop. It is pale gold and black spikes, the black ones being smaller than the gold ones, but it matches with everything and it compliments all outfits. It was a really good value for money, I know it's probably not going to last forever, but while it lasts I will be wearing it continuously.
Bracelet from Primark £2 (sale), originally £2
Rose gold has been one of my favourite things at the moment, and this bracelet is perfect. It is gold, but it has small pink gems which gives the effect of it being rose gold. I have been seeing these type of bracelets everywhere right now, but they are preettyy expensive, so this one is pretty good for a cheaper version.
Spike Necklace £2 (sale) originally £4
AHH, this necklace is amazing! It has 5 large triangles on a medium size pale gold chain, and the triangles are iridescent/duochrome! It really makes every outift look so much more interesting, and I have had quite a few compliments on this necklace! If you can still find it in store, buy it!
Cross earrings £1-£2 (unsure) Primark
Crosses have really been in fashion at the moment. I am not featuring these as a religious statement, I just really like the way they look! They aren't too big and aren't heavy at all! I rally want to get some other colours of these, as they look great with any outfits.
Bow Ring £1.50 - Primark
This is the final item I wanted to feature today. It is a large oversized black and gold bow ring. I have been wearing lots of rings recently and this one caught my eye. I don't know if you can still buy it, as this was purchased before Christmas. But I really love it!

So... it turns out I like Primark jewellery a bit!
What are your favourite jewellery items?

Real Techniques Core Collection by Samantha Chapman (Review)

Monday, 11 March 2013

Hi everyone! Today I will be posting about some brushes I absolutely love. I had heard great things about these brushes and when I realised that they were created by one of my favourite youtube makeup artists (Samantha Chapman from Pixiwoo) it made me want to buy them even more!
The core collection consists of 4 brushes. The buffing brush, the contour brush, the pointed foundation brush, and the detailer brush. You also get a really handy stand with the brushes too which can also be used when travelling.
All of the brushes.
I use the Buffing Brush to apply foundation to the skin for a really flawless finish, but also natural looking. No brush lines or any cakey-ness. My favourite brush in the collection. It is also great for blending and buffing cream blush to make it look a little more natural.
The logo on the stand for the brushes.
I use the Contour Brush for applying highlighter to the tops of the cheekbones, and also for applying a matte bronzer to the hollows of the cheeks. This brush does all the work for you. It comes to a slight point so that the tip collects and applies the product, and the wider part of the brush blends and buffs for you. It also works for sweeping blush onto the apples and outward.
I use the Pointed Foundation Brush for if I want to apply a cream product to the tops of my cheek bones for a more dewy look, such as something from my ELF Shimmer Palette. I find this too small for actually applying foundation, but this brush isn't bad for patting in your concealer.
The detailer brush is great for applying a lip colour for a really defined look. This brush is also quite good for really focusing a cream shadow under the lashline or into the crease to then blend out. Obviously I would clean the brush inbetween these 2 things!
All the brushes. You can see 5 here, but the extra picture (top left) is what you can see on the other side of the image.
So these are all the brushes. This set is £21.99 which I don't think is bad for the quality! I really am thinking about looking into buying some of the other brushes from this brand. Any you recommend?
These brushes are part of my everyday makeup, so definately worth investing in.

Rimmel GlamEyes Single Eyeshadow - Backstage

Monday, 11 March 2013

Hi everyone!
I am going to try and get 2 posts up today, so this is the first!
This is a shadow that I think I managed to find either in a pound shop or in a sale.
It is by Rimmel, and I love their shadows. This one is really buttery soft and it's a gorgeous colour. It's a gorgeous medium brownish taupe colour with champagne shimmer through it, just a small bit lighter than the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze, so if your eyelids are oily, this would be a great product to set that cream shadow.
The shadow in the pan. Swatched, I know..tut tut.
This shadow is super pigmented. On the swatch I have only sweeped my finger over the pan once or twice. The quality is great! These shadows are long lasting, and very blendable. I love this!
Don't know how to apply the shadow? Check the back!
SO GORGEOUS!
I need to start wearing this shadow more, finding this in my collection and posting about it now has made me really want to start buying some more Rimmel shadows. I did actually have my eye on one quite similar to this!
Do you have any re-discovered shadows in your collection?
