RIMMEL WAKE ME UP INSTANT RADIANCE SHIMMER TOUCHES

Sunday, 17 November 2013

Since the whole 'radiant glow' thing has become really popular this past year or two, I have been subtly been jumping on the bandwagon, what with my combination skin in tow.

I have been seeing these Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch products for a while, and after the rest of the Wake Me Up range has been getting some serious hype, I thought it would be a good idea to give these a go. I wasn't too sure about getting these, so when I spotted them each in a Poundland, it is the perfect time to trial them.

The 2 shades available are Shimmering Sand and Radiant Rose, none of which I use as a highlight, as they are just far too dark. I use Radiant Rose as a glowy, pale blush colour when I am feeling adventurous, and some people think it's crazy, but I love the way it looks on my skin tone.

Shimmering Sand is the anomaly of them, as I don't really know what to do with it. If you have darker skin, this would look stunning on the cheekbones as a highlight, but unfortunately for me it's just too dark. The main way I get use out of this is to either blend it in with some foundation, to create a really glowy base, or sometimes I apply it very, very lightly over the whole area of my cheeks and blend it well with a brush I used for foundation (the Real Techniques Buffing Brush that would be), and it adds a pretty subtle golden glow.

A nice way of adding glow, without the disco-ball aftermath. If you see these in a Pound Store, throw them onto the till and give them a go yourself...

RIMMEL WAKE ME UP FOUNDATION

Monday, 11 November 2013

2013 is the year that Rimmel's products are bringing it across the board when it comes to drugstore/highstreet makeup finds. Their releases have been causing everyone to get a little excited, and although this wasn't released this year, the hype has been at its peak.

The Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation claims to offer an 'Anti Fatigue Effect and Radiant Glow' and it also offers SPF15. There are small amounts of shimmer in it, but I have never before seen it on my face, but I have done in the bottle, but it isn't anything that has bothered me yet. Although, because this is such a radiant foundation, with my combination skin, things can get a little shiny throughout the day, so this is a weekend base for me, as I can easily reach for the powder or blotting sheets whenever I need them, which is probably twice a day (or less), just to tide things over on the shine-front.

The coverage is a good medium I would say, and one pump goes all the way over my face. The consistency is quite thick, which I actually quite like, as it feels very creamy when you buff it into the skin, but not heavy whatsoever. Another thing would be that the colour range isn't the best, with the palest offering of Ivory 100 being too dark for my skin, and so sometimes when I want to not have any product on the cheeks as they have no blemishes and look fine, I can't do that as I look like I have a mis-matched centre of my face...

Other than that, if you can deal with a bit of blending to even out the colour, and if you can deal with a little touch up of the powder here and there, than absolutely go and buy this yourself, and if you are the bargain hunter I am, go into ASDA, as the often sell it for £4.98 in there - bargainous.

THE UPLIFTING SHOWER DUO

Tuesday, 10 September 2013

I don't know about you, but when I wake up in the morning, after hitting the snooze button numerous times, I feel ver groggy, and I just need waking up. I gravitate toward the fruity, citrus scents to really get me ready and prepared for the day.
I am aware that you can get cheap shower gels from just about anywhere, but I have found 2 that I really like, that are worth those extra pennies...or pounds.

First of all, we have the LUSH Happy Hippy Shower Gel which is the more expensive option when you want this in larger quantities, starting at £3.50 for 100g. Strongly scented of grapefruit, this will well and truly wake up your senses to kick-start the day - like a fruity breakfast in a bottle. Don't use too much, it lathers well and, well, less is more - a much loved, and sometimes a little annoying, phrase used by us bloggers.

Up next, we have the Body Shop Sweet Lemon Shower Gel - This one, is a little more affordable, at £4.00 for 250ml, the more for less policy. If you don't like lemon scents, don't get this. It is very much heavily scented with lemon, but sweetened that little bit, so there isn't any of this overpowering, headache causing stuff. Yet again another well-lathering one, which just makes you feel clean, literally for the whole day.

I used to be such a bath person, but at the moment I just don't have time - So I try to make a shower as luxurious as it can get, by using some nice scrubs and gels.
