NYC AppleLicious Lip Balm Review - Apple Blueberry Pie

Wednesday, 14 August 2013

Hi guys!
A few weeks ago, the pound shops had been stocking up on some quality products. I don't always like to buy things from the discount/pound shops, because I feel like I am being very cheap/tight to not buy anything from actual shops, but if it is quality products and I am making a saving, I am more than happy to.
I found a duo set in there, of 2 NYC Products. One was a waterproof liner pencil, and the other was this, AppleLicious Glossy Lip Balm in the shade Apple Blueberry Pie. I was then later informed that this is a shade not available in the UK (I think), which was even better!

You may realise, I have made a collage for this product. You may have also noticed that Megan made a collage for her recent blog post! I promise I am not copying, there is literally no explanation other than the fact that I think we are telepathic.

I love the fact that this has a little apple on it, in a different colour, but when you apply it, it slightly fades but not completely. The packaging is cute too, pink with silver shimmer in it, and silver writing. They even replaced the 'o' with an apple!

I put the pictures on again, in full just so you could see a little closer. I am very proud of how these pictures turned out actually! If you think I have used too many pictures, let me know, or maybe you prefer it this way?

The product itself is quite sheer and balmy, but you can get a nice colour payoff with this, it is very versatile. I love the colour, a slightly shimmery, blue-pink/almost purple-ish colour, and I have been wearing this so much recently! It is very moisturising and nourishing on the lips too, despite having some shimmer, as sometimes that can leave a gritty feeling on the lips. I seriously adore the smell of this too, it is slightly 'artificially', apple smelling, but you can't help but love it, artificial or not.

Have you tried any of these balms from NYC? I really want to get my hands on some more, and they are super affordable too, only £2.49 a pop, which is great!

Yet Another Haul | Beauty, Baby Lips, and Fashion

Sunday, 11 August 2013

Hi guys!
It's a Sunday afternoon, I am sitting at the computer with a cuppa, and I think it is about time I was to show you what I have bought over the past few days. I went to a lovely shopping centre with a friend on Friday and got a few bits and bobs and you guys seem to love haul posts, so here's one for you now!

I popped into River Island, and when you are on a budget , your best bet there is the jewellery stand. I found this lovely midi/finger top ring, which is of course rose gold (the reason I got this), and I found it very interesting as it was double layered so it looks like you have 2 midi rings stacked on! This was £2 and I was very pleased with that little buy.

I went into Primark and managed to restrain myself to only buying one thing. I got this stunning bag which I think I will get tons of wear out of for the autumn/winter seasons, as it is a lovely burgundy/aubergine sort of colour and very vintage looking. The detail on it is really nice too, and finishes off the overall look of the bag. This was a bargainous £8 and so I skipped down to the tills with excitement for this item. I really love it! If the burgundy isn't for you, I am pretty sure that you can also get this in black!

I then popped into the mothership of Lush, and picked up my all time favourite bubble bar, which is the creamy candy slice. I love the smell of this, it smells like sweets and is just lovely! This is about the 4th time I have repurchased this, and I think that says something good about it! I normally can get about 4 baths out of this, so I think it is better than a one use bath bomb.

Unless you have been living under some sort of rock, you will know that the Maybelline Baby Lips have arrived in the UK! The supply in most stores is pretty low at the moment, but I managed to see one of the tinted ones in Pink Punch on display at the till and I picked it up right away! I think they were on a 3 for 2 deal, but I wasn't too sure so I got the one and I am in love with it! I hope to get some more in the future, and for only £2.99 a pop, these are great!

The last item I got was one of the Collection Cream Puff matte lip cream, which is sort of like the liquid lipstick concepts, basically a matte lipgloss. I got the one in Cotton Candy, and I really like it so far! It is very pigmented and it also isn't too drying, but I should mention that if your lips are very dry, you might want to use a good lip scrub/exfoliator beforehand. I want to also get some more of these, the coral one looks nice, I think it is called Fairy Cake! These are also only £2.99 which I think is a great deal.

So that is everything I got, and I hope you enjoyed this rather long post. Let me know what you have bought recently!

EcoTools Travel Bamboo 5 Piece Brush Set

Tuesday, 6 August 2013

Hi guys!
I am a lover of brushes. I lust after them all in Boots (and at the MAC Counter), but barely ever buy any. I used to be one to buy the cheap sets from eBay (some of them are good, others are wasting space in my collection), but my views are now changed and I am really into the quality brushes.
I saw on 'Makeup Savvy' that she found a great bargain on eBay of these EcoTools brushes. I know that they have actually updated these brushes, the pouch is different (well, I'm hoping I am right, and these aren't a fake! I think they may be the Chinese version anyway, as that is where they are from), but this set normally retails for £19.99 but I got it for £2.89! What a bargain!

From left to right, you have the Mineral Powder Brush, the Eye Shading Brush, the Concealer Brush and finally, the Baby Kabuki.

Starting with the Mineral Powder Brush. This brush isn't too dense, so I'm not sure it would get quite enough powder for my oily skin, but this is perfect for a light touch up of powder or applying a powder blush to the cheeks. I also think this would be lovely for adding a glow with some bronzer, or even if I want a very slight highlight, I could pick up a little product with this and sweep it over the cheekbones.

Oops! Blurry camera shot... But this is the Eye Shading Brush. It is a big fluffy blending brush, and I find it to be a cross between a MAC 217 blending brush and the blending side Urban Decay Good Karma eye brush. I like this to blend all my eyeshadow together, and if I want just a soft crease, and nothing to thin and sharp, this is nice to give that effect. This is one of my favourite brushes from the collection.

This is the concealer brush. For under the eyes this isn't the best, I prefer something more fluffy and soft (Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Bruse? I really want to buy the Starter Set for that!), but on blemishes (which I have a lot of..), this is perfect to get a nice coverage by patting on the product. This is another good brush, well, they are all great!

Cutest thing ever. This is the baby kabuki. This will be used for either powder, or possibly buffing in any contour or blush I want to tone down a little. This would be great for so much! I think it is so cute, because it is teeny tiny, and looks so nice on my drawers for makeup storage! Is that weird... I don't know, but it is so soft aswell!

You also get a nice little travel pouch, which is so cute and would be great as these brushes are mini, and no-one wants the bristles to get ruined! It just finishes off the travel set!

So that was it for my review of these brushes, and as I am interested in brushes more, I thought I could do a brush wishlist for you soon, if that is something you guys would like to see? Let me know in the comments!
Also, let me know what your favourite brushes are, as I am on the hunt for some more!

MUA Power Pouts | Review

Sunday, 4 August 2013

Hi guys!
So, whilst delving through my makeup, I rediscovered the MUA Power Pouts (I own 2) and I decided that I should do a review on them as I had some pictures floating around. I will always be loyal to the beloved Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains, because the quality of them is like no other and they are more thick and 'stain' like. But these are a nice cheaper alternative if you are just getting into makeup, or are on a budget. These are £3 a pop, and there are about 5 different colours, from red, to nude.

I have the colours Justify, which is a sheer red/orange-coral, and this one was a gamble for me because oranges don't suit me, but the colour inside doesn't give you a spaghetti mouth like the packaging suggests, so it's all good.... haha! I also have Broken Hearted which is a bright pink, with a slight (very small) almost burgundy tone to it. It isn't really close the packaging colour but it follows that idea. You can see in the picture below, that you can actually build up a nice colour with these.

Compared to the Revlon Just Bitten Kissables, these are a lot more balm like, opposed to stain like, and so they have a much more glossy look on the lips,  and sometimes I prefer this, but I am one to prefer the Revlon ones at most times. I find that the colour lasts longer and does actually stain the lips when I wear the Revlon ones, but I do still love the MUA ones for when I want something a little lighter.
I think after writing this post, I think I need to go and buy some more of the Revlon ones! They are 2 for £10 at the moment, for lips, nails and mascara, maybe a balm stain and a lip butter? I could buy 2 of each if I was daring enough, but I feel bad spending once I have got it home!
