THE AUTUMNAL NAIL POLISH PICKS

Autumn has officially arrived, and it is about time to pull out the nail colours. I have realised that it isn't all about the deep plums, and that I can mix it up a bit, but still keep the Autumnal theme running - although there is no doubt that I will probably start painting on a neon pink at some pont... Aside for that, I thought I should share what will be on my digits in the upcoming months.

The leader of the pack (my current most loved), is Color Club's Bright Night, a stunning cobalt blue with a slight hint of purple, and I just love it. I have no words as to how gorgeous this is... I applied this the day I bought it, and I can tell I will be painting it again soon... maybe tomorrow...?

Secondly, there is Eye Candy London's Reddy and Willing - first of all, I like the punny name, but the colour inside is so lovely too. A deep vampy red/ox blood is always a staple for autumn in my eyes, and this one ticks all the boxes - a creme/jelly finish hybrid, and the perfect colour and formula - just great. It even lasts well on me, and my nails don't tend to allow a polish stay put for 2+ days - can anyone explain?

Another well loved staple of mine is the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in Lychee, the perfect nude in my collection, and a lovely glossy finish. I also have a GOSH nude, which is a close dupe, but I can't think of the name off the top of my head - both are lovely, and I think these ones are always an option when you want something sophisticated, but without the 'mannequin hands' approach.

Next, is the least Autumnal of the bunch, a NO7 one in Milan  something I got about 6 months ago with my Boots voucher. This is a heavily packed shimmer polish, of pink and silver, which looks kind of like a foil at times, and then sometimes a shimmer... it is mesmerising and I simply love it.

Finally, is this polish from Avon Nailwear Pro called Noir Emerald. A purple/green duochrome polish is all you need to complete the autumn nail colour pack, and I freaking love it. It dries semi-matte, not my perferred formula, but with a coat of Essie Good to Go, the glossiness is back.

My love for nail polish is scarily coming back again, and I definitely do not need to buy any more (though my collection is forever growing), and  am going shopping tomorrow too - not the best of ideas....

PERFECTLY POLISHED?

A french manicure is something that gives the nails a sophisticated look, but something I can never be bothered to do. So when the Nailene French Manicure Pen Kit* dropped through my letterbox, I was pretty excited to try it.

In the set, you get the classic nail guides, which I don't tend to use often anyway, so they are at the back of my drawer now.
Then, we have the White French Tip Pen, designed to draw on the french tip. I prefer this for nail art designs, such as polka dots etc, just because it can be a little dry to colour in a whole tip. I do liek this though, just be careful that it doesn't dry up after the first use - I've been there.
We then have the Hard and Healthy French Pink which I really dont know about. It is really thin and streaky, and you can't exactly rack up the coats when you are applying it over your perfected white tips, because they won't be so white anymore. Also, this chips/peels/flakes literally a matter of hours after you apply it - maybe I did something wrong?
Moving on, we have the Acrylic Strong top coat, which is a really glossy top coat, which is the part I love. Now I am not sure whether this is what made the french pink flake around all over the place, but I don't think so.

This set retails for £6.99 at Boots if you are interested, but it might not be for everyone.
I do love a french mani, but the process bores me, especially when I am in a rush; sticking, painting, french tip drawing, top coating - maybe a bit lengthy.

COLOR CLUB KALEIDOSCOPE COLLECTION

Color Club is a band that has great nail polish offerings, but we don't often see them on our shelves here in the UK. In the past, I have managed to find myself a pack of 4 from the Take Wing collection from TKMaxx, and that is what I have done again, except this time, it is 2 polishes, from the Kaleidoscope Summer 2013 collection, for £3.00.

The colours stood out to me when I saw them in the shop, unlike anything I already have in my every growing collection of polishes.

First in the collection is Abyss, what I have on my nails as I type this post. It is such a nice colour, a sea foam-turquoise hybrid. It is a lovely glossy finish, and pretty opaque too, 2 coats did it for me. I must say though, this is the thicker one of the two, which I wasn't sure about, but if you get a little more than you need on your brush, and you wont get any stodgy looking brush strokes. Aside from that, I am liking this a lot.

Then, we have Bright Night, a bright cobalt, purpley blue, in a creme-jelly mix of formulation, which is my favourite of the two, and what I actually bought the mini set for. I have also worn this one, the day I got it I had put it on. I love this, and will be featuring in a future post about my picks for Autumn nails, because I can tell I will get a lot of wear out of it.

One thing I could complain about this that these chip quite easily, like after a days worth of wear or less, but I do have problems with chipping on most nail polishes I wear, so I can't say that it is down to the formula.

I really hope that Color Club polishes will be more readily available in the UK soon, as I really do like the colours they offer.

 

New 2True Pastel and Glitter Nail Polish

So as shown in my recent haul, I picked up some 2True nail polishes after seeing them on Etc Llymlrs, and I also said that when my nails wheels arrived, I would do a post/review. 

I have one of the new pastel shades to show you and one of the new glitter shades, and if I can, I will certainly be getting more! I had my eye on a really pretty pastel coral colour, which was amazing. 

Shade 4 of the Glitteratti Polish is really pretty. It is a combination of small round glitter, and medium hex glitter in a cobalt blue colour, and a purple-pink colour all in a clear base. You get a good amount of glitter in each brush load, but sometimes you can get lots of one colour, so you may need to fish out pieces from the other colour, but its not that bad. This is also a very smooth once dry for a chunky glitter polish like this one.

Shade 16 is the pastel purple. Supposedly a Models Own Utopia dupe, this is the polish I had my eye on. I love an affordable dupe. It is a very pale pastel purple, more grey toned than pink, creme polish. It is really pretty, and I will be wearing this lots in the summer. It would also look great with a tan. 

In these swatches, I used 2 coats of Shade 16 shown on the left, and 1 thick coat of shade 4. As you can see, you do get a generous amount of glitter in one thick coat, but it still dries quite quickly, unlike some glitter polishes, where even if you apply a very thin coat they will feel tacky for what seems like hours. 

Overall, these are great nail polishes, and for £1.99 a pop or 3 for £5, with an amazing new range of pastels and glitters, along with their core collection of brights and staple colours, you should definitely go and check them out yourself.
